The concept of using the Swiss ball in Physiotherapy
dates back about 40 years
The Swiss ball has until recently been used
primarily for patients with neurological problems, but now it is
becoming much more widely used in the health and fitness arena.
Many top international rugby players, body-builders and elite athletes
are seeing the benefits of Swiss ball training to improve their
performance. However, the majority of the books available in the
UK seem to centre its application in the field of neurological rehabilitation
and there is a paucity of information on its use to improve stability,
flexibility and strength in the sporting and fitness world.
It is for this reason that we have decided
to put pen to paper and produce this basic easy to use practical
guide to Swiss ball training for the exercise world.
